The Authoritarian Political Systems Group (APSG) is delighted to announce the 2-day Conference “New Faces and Methods in Authoritarian Politics,” held at Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana, on 23-24 May 2024.
Keynote Speakers
We invited three keynote speakers to reflect on the challenges and opportunities the authoritarian politics field faces today. They are:

Martin K. Dimitrov
Professor of Political Science at Tulane University. He is also an Associate at the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies at Harvard, Associate Editor for Asia of the journal Problems of Post-Communism, and Associate Editor for Social Science (China and Eurasia) of The Journal of Asian Studies.
Jennifer Gandhi
Professor of Political Science and the Jackson School of Global Affairs at Yale University. Prior to joining Yale, she was Professor and Chair of Political Science at Emory University. She is also the Co-Editor of the Journal of Political Institutions and Political Economy.


Thomas Pepinsky
Walter F. LaFeber Professor of Government and Public Policy at Cornell University and a Nonresident Senior Fellow in the Foreign Policy Program at the Brookings Institution. He is also the Director of the Southeast Asia Program at Cornell (SEAP), editor of the Journal of East Asian Studies (JEAS), and co-founder and member of the Executive Board of the Southeast Asia Research Group (SEAREG).
